Third Internet Governance Forum Afghanistan Concludes
The third Internet Governance Forum Afghanistan (IGFA) 2019 was held in Kabul, Afghanistan between 7–9 July, 2019. The event was preceded by a one day pre-School of Internet Governance (AfSIG 2018), pre-Youth IGF Afghanistan, and pre-TechWomen 2.0, a summit of women in technology by TechWomen.Asia— called Day 0 of the IGFA.
Over 500 participants including technical professionals, academia, civil society, business, government officials, students, youth had registered for participating in this three day event. The conference provided simultaneous interpretation in English, Pashto and Dari and had remote participation facility for those who could not attend the meeting in person.
Organized for the third time by the Internet Society Afghanistan (ISOCA), the IGF Afghanistan 2019 illustrated a broad scope of discussions on how best to ensure good governance of the internet considering aspects, such as accessibility and affordability, technical and regulatory matters, consumer protection, equitable development for all and a range of other challenges requiring multi-stakeholder cooperation.

IT Companies Share Key Challenges with Gov Leadership
Leaders from the information technology private companies met with the Minister of Communications and IT, Mr. Fahim Hashimy, on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at the Kabul Intercontinental Hotel. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss challenges and concerns, as well as to share opinions on how to shape the future of the IT industry in Afghanistan. The meeting was called by the Ministry, where over 40 representatives of the business community took part.
